FAQs About LANAP
What is LANAP®?
LANAP® (Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure) is an innovative laser therapy used for the treatment of gum disease. It involves the use of a specialized dental laser to selectively remove diseased gum tissue and bacteria from the gums, without harming healthy tissue.
How does LANAP® work?
LANAP® uses a laser to remove only diseased gum tissue and specifically targets the bacteria responsible for gum disease. The result is a short and painless process with less bleeding than traditional gum disease surgery.
Does LANAP® hurt?
When the LANAP® procedure begins, the areas being treated will be numbed so that you feel nothing. As a minimally invasive procedure, there are no cuts, no stitches, and minimal bleeding. We’ll ensure your comfort!
How long does it take to recover from LANAP® laser treatment?
Recovery is quick, with most patients returning to normal activities within 24-48 hours. The procedure itself typically takes about 2-3 hours, depending on the extent of the periodontal disease.
“Dr. Torena has been my trusted dentist since I was 8 years old. We first visited her office over 20 years ago when we first arrived from Colombia because she was one of the only Spanish-speaking dentists in the area. She is kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, honest, and professional. The staff in the office are kind and very helpful! ”
